Everything a first visit needs, on one page. If you want it done for you, the form at the bottom does that.

  • From Agra: about 100 km, 2 to 2.5 hours

Timings that matter

  • Shriji: summer 5 AM to 2 PM and 5 to 9 PM; winter 5:30 AM to 2 PM and 5 to 8:30 PM. Shut every afternoon
  • Ropeway: 8 AM to 9 PM, Rs 110 adult and Rs 60 child round trip. Official booking
  • Best months: October to March. Summer afternoons cross 40 degrees; the monsoon turns the hills green
  • Best hour: weekday sunrise. Weekends and festival mornings are the crowd

Parking and the climb

  • Paid parking at the base of the hill; on festival days the town is zoned and cars stop further out
  • 200+ steps to the temple, with landings to rest. The ropeway is the alternative
  • Shoes come off at the temple; carry a bag for them

Money

  • Cash and UPI run the town; cards work only at the bigger hotels
  • Three ATMs, one of them 24 hours, and they empty on festival days. Withdraw in Mathura or at the airport
  • No money changer within 40 km. For guests from abroad we handle exchange on the way in and set up UPI. Money and exchange

Food

Barsana eats simple and vegetarian: kachori and jalebi in the morning, thalis at lunch, lassi and peda. No alcohol, no meat, and none expected. Ask us for the places we eat at ourselves; they change, and we keep the list current.

Etiquette

In the temple and the town

  • Say Radhe Radhe; it is hello, thank you and goodbye in Barsana
  • Modest clothes, shoulders and knees covered, for everyone
  • No photography near the deity unless told it is fine; none of sadhus without asking
  • Do not touch the deities or the altar; the sevayats do the seva
  • Leather is best left in the car at the temple
First time?

A one-day plan that works

  • Leave Delhi at 5, reach the base by 8:30, up by ropeway or steps for darshan before the heat.
  • Kirti Mandir, then Peeli Pokhar and the Ashta Sakhi temple at the foot of the steps.
  • Lunch; rest in the shade while the temples are shut.
  • Nandgaon at 4:30, back for Sandhya aarti at 7, home by 11.

We reply with a plan, not a brochure

Say when you are coming and how many of you there are. You get two or three options with real distances to Shriji and a fixed price. No surge on festival days.

  • Reply within a day, usually within hours
  • Stays 10% below the walk-in rate when booked through us
  • A local lead with every group on festival days
  • No VIP darshan promises, because there is no such thing at Shriji
